The Belgian federal government

Following 540 days of negotiations among informers, pre-formers, conciliators, high-level groups and royal clarifiers, Belgium has officially announced a new federal government.

The new government is a coalition of six political parties and three political families. The Socialists (Parti Socialiste & Socialistische Partij. Anders), Liberals (Mouvement Réformateur & open Vlaamse Liberale Democraten) and Christian- Democrats (centre démocrate humaniste & Christelijk Democratisch & Vlaams) are represented on both sides of the linguistic border.

Denmark bucked the current European trend towards the right in its general election on 15 September. Danes voted in a left-wing ‘Red Alliance’ coalition headed by Social Democrat leader Helle Thorning-Schmidt, defeating the Liberal-Conservative coalition, which had been in power for ten years.

Trust and Purpose Survey 2011

Burson-Marsteller commissioned Penn Schoen Berland (PSB), the global market research and
consulting firm, to carry out the Trust & Purpose survey. PSB completed 3,161 online interviews
among the general population in the following countries from 5 May to 16 May, 2011:
Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal,
Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom. Data was weighted to age and gender
demographics for each country.
